Borussia Dortmund's Champions League hopes were dealt a blow by the confirmation that Mario Gotze will miss the final due to a thigh injury.

Kevin Grosskreutz is expected to take the 20-year-old's place in the XI, with Marco Reus shifting into the centre of the attacking trio behind Robert Lewandowski.

At the back, Lukasz Piszczek is fit to play, but will undergo thigh surgery in the summer, while Mats Hummels is expected to shake off a minor ankle injury to feature against the club that bred him.

Meanwhile, the only major question mark in the Bayern Munich ranks is as to whom will partner Dante at centre-back.

With Holger Badstuber missing since December, Daniel Van Buyten and Jerome Boateng have been rotated at the heart of defence, but the Belgian is the more likely to start the final.

Toni Kroos remains sidelined after picking up a muscle injury in the quarter-final first leg against Juventus, so Arjen Robben will continue on the right, with Thomas Muller lining up behind lone striker Mario Mandzukic, who should keep his place ahead of Mario Gomez.

BVB, angry at losing their domestic title and Mario Gotze to the Bavarians, will be all the more eager for victory and I can see this one going all the way to penalties - then it's anyone's game.

UEFA Champions League Final Bayern Munich v Borussia Dortmund Preview

Wembley awaits for this year's German finalists Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich in what will be the 100th official meeting between the two. This final will be the first all-German European Cup Final affair and only the fourth time that the final has featured teams from the same country.
Borussia Dortmund defeated Real Madrid in the semi-finals with a 4-3 aggregate win, after a sensational 4-1 victory in the first leg and Robert Lewandowski grabbing all 4 goals. Bayern on the other hand, eased past arguably the best side of this generation by beating Barcelona 7-0 on aggregate.
Dortmund are undefeated against Bayern in their last six league games, but Bayern are undefeated in the four competitive games this season, so the game looks as if it could go either way. The last meeting between the two on neutral ground was in last season's DFB-Pokal final with Dortmund running out 5-2 winners that day.
After winning the German title for the last two years, this year's Bundesliga runners-up Borussia Dortmund will be looking to end the season on a high after losing the title to Bayern Munich, and you can back them at 18/5 to win the match. Dortmund will be even further determined to get one over on their rivals after Bayern announced they had activated the release clause in star performer Mario Götze's contract and will sign for the Bavarians this summer for a fee in the region of 37 million euros. Only Zlatan Ibrahimovic (7) has more assists than Götze (5) in this season's Champions League and only Cristiano Ronaldo (12) has scored more goals than Robert Lewandowski (10) - and you can back either to score first at 8/5.
Meanwhile, Bundesliga Champions and DFB-Pokal finalists Bayern will have the extra incentive of being the first German club to win the Treble after just missing out on that achievement in the 1999 Final to Man United. Only six clubs have managed that feat previously with Jose Mourinho's Inter the last club to do so back in 2010.
Bayern go into the match looking very solid, winning all four games in Quarter Finals and Semi Finals without conceding a single goal. In fact, the Munich side have only conceded 18 goals in 34 Bundesliga matches so it is no surprise that Munich are the bookies favourites to win the match at 4/5, especially after wrestling the title back from their final opponents by an impressive 25 point margin.
Despite both teams running a very tight defensive ship, expect a very lively and entertaining final between Germany's finest and with such a fantastic array of attacking talent on show from both sides, neither will just sit back so it seems as if Wembley could witness another epic encounter for the second time in three years.

Midfielder Cheikh Tiote (hamstring) was forced off early in the win over QPR last time out, but is expected to be fit to start. However, fellow enforcer Moussa Sissoko, striker Shola Ameobi and defender Ryan Taylor (all knee) are out.
